Following High School Sports on the Internet

I found an interesting article last week that talks about how the Internet has revolutionized the ways that fans can follow high school sports. Passion for high school sports has always been around, but the Internet has made it much easier for fans to talk about games, players, recruiting, etc. The Internet has not only made it easier for fans to follow high school sports, but it’s also led to an overall increase in hype and interest in high school sports, with the creation of various ranking systems, blogs, websites, and message boards.

According to the article, “There is a fervent base of college fans eager for information on their schools’ potential stars.” At PrepChamps, we’re implementing features that will make it easy for fans to track their favorite players. As it is now, fans can sign up for an account, search for athletes and add them to their rosters to keep track of them. Fans can view athletes’ pictures and video and share them with friends via Facebook, MySpace or embedding them in websites. We also have an RSS feed for media on the site, so people can track whenever a new video is uploaded. We’re developing individual RSS feeds for athletes, so fans can see whenever their favorite athletes have uploaded new media or changed their stats/profile, and we’re also working on a couple of other new features that should improve the ways the fans can track athletes.

We invite you to join PrepChamps (it’s free), take a look around and let us know what you think!
