A lot of the talk today in the gymnasium at the Reebok All-American Camp has been about the sharp-shooting 6-foot-7 senior guard Givon Crump.
Givon Crump scored 18 points in a win today at Reebok All American Camp.
Crump lit on fire today in his second game of the day, as he pumped in 18 points in his team’s 89-57 win. In the game, Crump caught fire in the second period, scoring 11 consecutive points on 5-for-5 shooting in the quarter, and also allowing his team to break open the game and cruise to victory.
As a result of Crump’s performance, a lot of college coaches in attendance were mentioning his name under their breath following the game.
Crump’s father, Gino Crump, advised Arizona Preps that he received a phone call from Michigan Head Coach John Beilein immediately following the game, advising him that his son has climbed the recruiting ladder with their coaching staff significantly. While Crump has already received an official offer from the Wolverines, he could become their top recruit in the very near future.
News & Notes:
Another player making a strong case for himself today with college coaches has been 6-foot-8 junior low post prospect Patrick Young. In an earlier game today, Young led his team to victory with strong inside play. The talented junior prospect showcased his ability to rebound the basketball with a high level of intensity, while also finishing very strong around the basket. Young’s tremendous size and strength for his age makes him a very attractive looking prospect for the high major division-I level . . .
Another big time prospect that is making a strong case for himself this week is 6-foot-7, 220-pound junior forward Tobias Harris. The New York native is as skilled as they come for a player his size, and he is still growing significantly, especially when you consider that he is merely 15 years of age.
Harris has a very soft touch for the outside and can score while facing the basket or with his back to it. He is also a very good rebounder on both ends of the floor and scores very well with or without the basketball.
Harris is very enjoyable to watch perform, as he plays with a high basketball sense on the floor. A definite elite high major prospect for next year’s talented 2010 class.
