NC Football Player Dies After Game
Very sad story here. Junior RB Jaquan Waller from Greenville, NC, died Saturday morning in the hospital after sustaining an injury in Friday night’s game. He was carted from the stadium Friday night after being tackled on a play in which he fumbled. He walked off the field, but then collapsed on the sideline. The cause of death was not known.
Recap of the Rhode Island Breakers Showcase
The Rhode Island Breakers held their annual fall college showcase on Sept. 21 at Mass Premier Courts in Foxboro, Massachusetts. The event included a variety of college basketball prospects and the New England Basketball Recruiting Report has the scoop on which players stood out.
Basketball Standout Stars in Own Documentary
PF Jeremy Tyler (Class of 2010) will star in a documentary tentatively titled “My Life: with Jeremy Tyler.” This work-in-progess will chronicle his expected rise from San Diego prep star to NBA draft pick. ESPN Rise has the story.
Arkansas Player Scores 9 Touchdowns
Nashville, Arkansas, quarterback Derrick Graham tied an Arkansas record with nine TDs on short runs Friday in his team’s 58-35 win.
Nebraska Football Player Plays Despite Broken Neck
This is one tough dude. Spencer Trapp of Superior, Nebraska, broke his neck during his game on Sept. 12, but kept playing, because he didn’t realize how serious his injury was. Doctors were amazed that he was able to walk into the emergency room after the game and didn’t end up paralyzed.
#2 Football Prospect (class of 2009) Out for the Season
6′3″ 260 pound defensive end Devon Kennard suffered an ACL tear in his right knee and will be out for the rest of the season. Rivals.com has Kennard ranked as the #2 overall prospect behind QB Matt Barkley.
Basketball Recruiting Can Change Overnight
A few recent basketball commitments have reminded people that things can change quickly in recruiting. Former Purdue head coach Gene Keady summed it up best when he said, “recruiting is like shaving. If you don’t do it every day you end up looking like a bum.”
