Losing Streak Finally Over for King Philip Boys Basketball Team

Sunday, January 25th, 2009, filed in Athlete's Corner

We wanted to share this interesting story with you. After losing their last 60 games, the boys’ basketball team from King Philip’s High School (Massachusetts) won their game last night against Hanover, 73-59. The win ended a streak of losses that stretched back to the seniors’ freshman year. It’s amazing to see these athletes get a chance to experience the feeling of winning.

Jeremy Rohrs, our director of basketball operations here, and head coach Sean McInnis took over the program this year to try to help turn things around. The team plays in a very tough conference (3 of the top 15 teams in the state are in their league), so things haven’t been easy. But in last night’s game, King Philip’s never trailed in route to their victory. The Warriors were led by senior Luke Niland, who had 21 points (a career-high), and went 10-10 from the free throw line. Freshman Jake Layman chipped in with 18 points.

Here’s the link to the full story from The Sun Chronicle. Congrats on the win, and keep working hard!
