Hope everyone is having a good week so far. Today we released some new features and improvements on our PrepChamps website. Please see below for details about some of these features that you may notice:
New Features:
1. New Contests & Challenges page: We added the Contests tab back to the banner, linked it to Challenges (new) and Most Friends Contest. We’re excited about the challenges, which allow anyone to compete to see which video/picture is the best across various categories, such as Best Basketball Video, Best Game Face, Fastest Athlete, etc. You can challenge anyone and share your challenges with friends to try to get votes. Next week, the Challenges page will begin displaying the last 10 challenges and the top 10 highest-scoring challenges.
2. Better Notifications: We cleaned up various messages throughout the site, and improved challenges notices (you get a note when your challenge is accepted, rejected, or ready to vote)
3. Upgraded Media Player: We upgraded our media player to fix a nagging bug that was seen in IE7. There is now a full-screen button to view videos full-screen (on PCs with Flash 9.0)
4. Improved buttons for new users: We changed the “Get Started” buttons to “Join Now - Free!” to emphasize the fact that a basic profiles is free. We also added a call-to-action banner on Search pages and the Learn More pages to encourage people to sign up for an account.
5. Fixed Upcoming Events: We fixed the Upcoming Events box on the Events Page and Athlete Dashboards to correctly show upcoming events, rather than past events
6. Cleaner Tabs: We replaced the orange tabs on Edit Profile page with cleaner, easier-to-click blue tabs.
Working on this week:
1. Better Video Uploader: Replacing our video uploader with a more reliable system that shows progress and has less of a performance impact on our site.
2. Streamlined Profile UI: Improving the layout of video & photo libraries to be more intuitive
Coming soon:
1. Most Friends Leaderboard: Adding a new leaderboard to the Most Friends page to display the members with the most friends, overall
2. Activity Tracking & Subscriptions: Includes things such as sending notifications to members who have been added to someone’s roster.
