Reebok All American Camp Day 1 Recap

Day one is officially in the books for this year’s annual Reebok All-American Basketball Camp.

As each of the campers checked in to this year’s camp and were greeted by the Reebok staff, the day’s festivities kicked off with player registration, opening announcements by Reebok Director Chris Rivers, team assignments, player photos and individual stations and drills.

Rivers first addressed each of the players before the official start to this year’s camp, in what may have been his best performance in recent memory, alerting each of the campers of the new Reebok vision and the tremendous opportunity that lies before each of the campers as they embark on the week long journey to become one of the nation’s heralded prospects.

In recent memory, the elite top performers from this annual camp have gone on to acclaim stardom and tremendous success nationally. Such recent players as Kevin Love, O.J. Mayo, Derrick Rose and Greg Oden have each gone on to become top-rated draft picks in the NBA.

While formerly known as Reebok ABCD Camp, the camp name changed to the current Reebok All-American Camp with the retirement of Sonny Vacarro. Since the passing of the torch from Vacarro to Rivers, as the camp organizer, the name changed to Reebok All-American Camp in an attempt to change the camp’s name as well as the format, to a more educational setting for the camp participants.

After Rivers’ speech to the campers, players received team assignments and took individual player photos. The excitement was at a high by each camper as players learned who they would team up with for the week’s scheduled action.

Towards the end of the evening, players organized for player stations and drills, before finishing off the evening with team practices.

As players and staff finally boarded the buses for a late return to the camp hotel, the Crowne Plaza Main Line, the anticipation began to grow for the day two of action, which will include more player stations in the morning, team scrimmages in the afternoon and seminars in the evening.
